How Household Sharing Works

Updated Aug 31, 2026 · 1 min read

FourFork keeps two parallel spaces once you join a household: your personal space and the household space. Most shared pages have a toggle at the top — for example, the pantry and meal calendar let you flip between Personal and Household views.

The Personal / Household toggle

Whatever view you're in is where your changes land. Add an ingredient while the pantry shows Household, and everyone in the household sees it. Flip to Personal and your additions are yours alone.

Real-time sync

Household changes appear for other members without a refresh. If your partner checks off items on the shopping list at the store while you add tomorrow's dinner to the calendar at home, you both see each other's updates as they happen.

How conflicts are handled

When two people plan the same meal slot or add overlapping items, FourFork surfaces the conflict rather than silently overwriting — for example, pushing calendar meals to a cart that already has those recipes asks whether to keep both, replace, or skip.

Who sees what

  • Shared calendar, cart, pantry, and collections: every household member.
  • Your personal versions of those: only you.
  • Recipes you create, your reviews, and your profile: unaffected by household membership.
