Scaling Recipes to Any Serving Count
Updated Aug 31, 2026 · 1 min read
Cooking for two, or for twelve? Every recipe scales. Use the serving stepper on the recipe page (the − servings + control next to the ingredient list) and the whole recipe adjusts.
What scales
- Ingredient quantities — converted and rounded sensibly (you'll see ¾ cup, not 0.6667 cups).
- Quantities inside instructions — steps that mention amounts follow the scale factor.
- Cost estimates — cost-per-serving stays per-serving; the total reflects your count.
What doesn't scale
Cooking times and temperatures stay as written — a double batch of cookies bakes for the same time, though it may need two trays. Use your judgment for pan sizes and cook times on large scale-ups.
Metric and weight view
Use the show g/ml toggle to see ingredient amounts in grams and milliliters — handy for scaled amounts that get awkward in cups and spoons.
